Memes in the Time of Trump 2.0 - Labor Day Edition

The further we go down the path of authoritarianism, the more people are voicing their dissent. Labor Day 2025 is going to be pretty busy with rallies, marches, and other gatherings.

I’ve got a couple of events I’m attending but before I go off, here is a healthy helping of the aforementioned dissent with soupçons of satire and perhaps ribaldry.

It might not be sexy, but it IS important; voting on proposed Amendments to the Texas Constitution

Source: Murphy Monitor/ murphymonitor.com Coming up soon, Texans will be voting on 17 amendments to the state constitution. Voter turnout is expected to be lackluster, but it isn’t hyperbole to say that the results of the votes on these amendments will have long-lasting repercussions. Sadly, turnout is not expected to be large, but I’m hoping that by circulating this that maybe more people will be inspired to take this seriously and vote.  Early voting begins Monday, October 20 and ends October 31. Regular voting day is November 4. In what follows, I’ve made my own recommendations based on sources listed in the Notes/Further Reading section. Memes in the Time of Trump 2.0: a parade of parody, piss, and vinegar

Epstein, Epstein, Epstein   DON’T STOP TALKING ABOUT THE EPSTEIN FILES: ask why they’re so heavily redacted? Why didn’t Trump release them as and when he said he would (rhetorical for most of us; but should be a burning question for his supporters); who is being protected other than Trump? Why is this administration protecting child trafficking and pedophiles? If you voted for Trump and his administration, please ask yourself if you’re cool with letting the files remaining obscured, redacted, delayed. If you didn’t vote for the regime or have changed your mind about it, don’t stop talking about the files! Raise the question to your elected officials. Ask them, if they’re Republicans, how they justify the regime’s reluctance to release the files with greater transparency and actually respect the victims, whose sensitive information is unredacted.
