Sunday morning reading: Epstein and the War on Women

Normally, I don’t begin the day with grim and gritty and/or depressing or upsetting reading, but a friend from Tuesdays at Cornyn’s sent me this link to a Reddit thread from Reddit user SedatedandAmputated, detailing Republican pedophiles. Further down that thread, rando552 helpfully links to Epstein files that have been published or leaked.

David Huster at Blue Amp has a nicely written critique of evidence of Trump’s failing health, although I’d like to see more investigation into what the GOP will do if he croaks on the job. I suspect his cabinet will go nuts and the party will devour itself like starving piranhas turning on one another (unfair to the fish to be compared to lower life forms*), JD will assume DJT’s office and life will get even weirder and more terrifying.


Last, the inestimable Joyce Vance’s “The War on Women” essay is required reading. 


The point that leaps out repeatedly is the connecting thread of misogyny that characterizes the “party of family values”. 


As I replied to Richard, there should be volumes of case studies for psych courses that should be studied. More to the point, studies on their cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy should be used in case studies for Public Health classes since the danger to women (and therefore, everyone) is immanent.

No Kings Day is coming! Let’s turn out and let’s be safe!

I know many of us are stoked to show up, raise our voices, and fight the good fight against authoritarianism and this tin-pot wannabe dictator and his clown car cabal. However, with additional issues in some states (like this one), there may be increased military presence, more law enforcement on the ground (uniformed and plain clothed) and perhaps, individuals and groups who might try to disrupt peaceful assemblies. What's ahead for protesters in the coming months? Planning ahead for pushback from the State, part 1

Source: unknown   Ahead of larger protests and more people taking to the streets, it might be worthwhile to be aware of what the regime is attempting to do now to breach the right to peaceful assembly and silence voices. We aren’t at the point where the military is turned on crowds, but be aware that is a big part of the authoritarians playbook.  First, there will be draconian legislative measures. As you may assume, many such measures are before different legislatures in conservative states. Concurrently, the federal government is considering several ways to make protesting illegal.
