Thoughts on this morning’s reading:
The endgame is near. The military invasion of cities to “prevent crime/clean up the streets”; rewriting history by persecution of schools and universities; demanding states gerrymander districts to win elections for the GOP; claiming pedophiles and traffickers are innocent.
The Regime is going to push and push and it’s waiting for a violent push-back. Deployment of troops to cities is the most obvious move; the Regime knows cities will push back, likely declare mayors and governors of opposition states criminals and completely abolish “states’ rights” (those are for Republicans only, you see).
We’re going to keep writing, keep organizing, keep fighting, keep showing up. It might seem futile, but this isn’t just for us in this present moment.
We can’t count on anything except what we, each of us,are doing right now. Not for some figure to swoop in and lead the fight, not for a “blue wave”, not for special elections or the mid-terms (we already know a big part of the authoritarian game plan is to claim election results that don’t go their way fraudulent; this move is already happening).
But we persist. Every voice of dissent matters, every scrap of paper that preserves the truth matters. Every byte of data that documents what’s happening here matters. Future generations- and it will take generations to right this - will need the evidence.
The rest of the world sees and knows but for now, the US is an island, on the cusp of crumbling under its own weight from the clash of reality with enforced ignorance, of cruelty and venality with what is true and right.
This morning’s reading included the following:

“Stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures,” Boston Mayor Michelle Wu.

Justice Department gave Ghislaine Maxwell 'a platform to rewrite history,' family of Epstein abuse victim says
And a slightly hopeful note:
“Let me state it up front: Democrats are finally learning to fight fire with fire (as much as I hate that line) and it’s working. From TikTok campaigns that topple political dynasties to governors who troll presidents with their own tactics, the party is discovering that authenticity beats propriety in the attention economy."
