Memes in the time of Trump: April 2025

Memes are, depending on how you want to look at them, the pithiest form of journalism, the laziest form of journalism, acute commentary, not so cute commentary, dumb. Memes are graffiti with more legible font and not necessarily as exciting graphics. Memes are all of these things and perhaps less. Naw, memes are, at their best, pretty good snapshots of issues and the times in which they happen.

One thing is for sure; the past three months have provided an ongoing meme-fest. I’ve been stockpiling memes I’ve come across on social media, principally Bluesky and Facebook, and loading them to my Google Drive. I had a vague notion to start a wholly different standalone gallery, of sorts, but decided I don’t want to maintain a third platform.

My happy medium is to post a few (or a lot) here once a month. As anyone knows or can find out quickly, I do not like, approve, or in any way support the Regime. You may say - without hyperbole - that I stand very much opposed  to what I see as the most dangerous “administration” to occupy the people’s house and that, frankly, we are in an existential, as well as constitutional, crisis.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a few chuckles along the way.

Sadly, I cannot claim any credit for the bulk of what’s in this gallery. My contribution is only one piece that I’ll plant somewhere in here. I wish I could credit people who made these. Some are watermarked, so those creators will get their due. IF you see something you’ve done or that you  know th person who made it, please contact me here or on Bluesky at @reactionshots.bsky.social; I’ll up date the entry accordingly.

I’ll post a few dozen, I think, and leave it at that. I don’t want to get too bogged down in this, but I think once a month for now should do.

If there’s a use unless, it’s that you can download these images and share them. Maybe get some ideas and create your own. The viral nature of memes is baked into them, so consider this a Petri dish of specimens to spread into the wild. (Trust me, many of these have already been out there for sometime; but I’d like to be a gracious host, so to speak.)

And that’s all I’ve got for now. Might be even more next month!
